At the end of the day we’re all trying to live our best lives and be happy. Everyone wants to feel good! I think during quarantine more and more people realize how much community involvement really matters for mental health. Today, and hopefully more times in the future, we’ll ask some of our readers questions to get more of a feel for them and to get you thinking how you’d answer. We’re all in this together!

Jen

1.  What’s your name and where are you from?

I’m Jen from Omaha,  Nebraska.

2.  Why are you interested in personal finance?

I’m looking for ways, means, methods of building my empire or legacy so I can bequeath it as I see fit.

3.  What do you do for money and what do you do for fun, if they’re not the same?

I’m trying to re enter the Pharmacy field. I think at my age, it’s not so much about having fun, it’s about having peace and contentment in my life.  I don’t do drama so that helps.   I know I need to volunteer more.

4.  What is one short term goal you have and one long term goal (could be anything, not just around personal finance)?

short term goal…I want to open a Dividend Reinvestment ETF; and long term,  acquire a used car, I actively save $60.00 a month towards this goal.

5.  Are there any certain personal finance blogs/people that you follow that you’d recommend and why?

I like David Bach.  I started reading his books about 20 years ago in Korea.   He breaks things down into manageable chunks.  His writing reminds me of the old adage about how do you eat an elephant…one bite at a time.

6.  What money topic would you most like to learn about?

I would be interested to discover how social security is determined.
401 K…I just found out you can open a private one, so I’m looking to educate myself about it.

Also ETFs, right now,  specifically sources (where to go to open a Dividend Reinvestment ETF).

Simone

1.  What’s your name and where are you from?

I’m Simone Collins and I’m from New York City

2.  Why are you interested in personal finance?

I like to feel financially secure and like I’m in control of my life.

3.  What do you do for money and what do you do for fun, if they’re not the same?

I work in corporate finance, but I have non income generating hobbies such as home brewing, going to Broadway shows, and visiting wineries/breweries.

4.  What is one short term goal you have and one long term goal (could be anything, not just around personal finance)?

One short term goal is to buy a house as a rental property. Long term goals TBD 🙂

5.  Are there any certain personal finance blogs/people that you follow that you’d recommend and why?

I like the Bigger Pockets Finance podcast because I think their content is relatable, easy to follow, and they have great charisma!

6.  What money topic would you most like to learn about?

I’d like to learn more about how to invest with market fluctuations and when to be concerned.

Until next time!
